Work stations

Fifteen years ago, office workers spent most their time sitting at large cumbersome desks, handling paper that required extensive filing cupboards.

Today our space requirements differ greatly due to advances in technology. We typically spend less than 15% of our time handling paper so staff can work more efficiently at smaller desks specifically designed to suit their needs.

The 120 degree workstations shown on the left side provide optimum desk size, allowing designers to achieve a higher density in open plan office spaces than can be achieved with standard rectangular desks.

Desk sharing

Many companies are improving efficiency by reducing the number of desks on the floor. Gone are the days when every employee had a desk, even if they were only in the office 1 or 2 days a week. Hot desks are shared desks allocated to teams. Typically, 4 or 5 staff share 3 or 4 desks. These desks are usually smaller, do not have under desk storage, and are regulated by a “clean desk” policy with personal storage generally provided in central lockers or storage units.

Touchdown desks are located in less central locations for use by more transient members of your workforce who typically use the office less than 2 days per week.
